Coldplay @ La Cigale (31/10/11)

I had the privilege to attend to one of the best private concerts of the year: Coldplay at La Cigale in Paris. Tickets were won only through NRJ / Orange contests, no sale.

I arrived at the venue around 6pm to collect my precious ticket, ensued a long wait since the concert started at 9pm. As we approach the fateful hour, the beatings of my heart accelerated. The lights have been finally turned off and the show began. They opened the ball with Back to the Future theme continued by Mylo Xyloto and finally Hurts Like Heaven. It did not take a long time for Chris Martin to be wet, the atmosphere was really hot from the start to the end of the show ! Then, Yellow has been acclaimed unanimously. There was a great complicity between Jonny and Chris laughing, doing winks to each other ... The band mixed Xyloto Mylo's songs played this summer during festivals, such as Major Minus or Life is For Living and those of their previous albums suche as Violet Hill or God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, which has been one of my best moment of the evening. The recent rearrangement of the intro is truely gorgeous and the atmosphere reached the climax on this song, unforgettable ! For having seen it live several times, it was the first time I felt such an osmosis between the band and the audience ! Chris, Guy, Jonny and Will looked pleased to play in front of us. Paradise had been one of the highs of the night, the Cigale's crowd sang out loud the "Para-paradise" parts and it is without speaking of how cool was Charlie Brown ! We had a bit of Rehab in honor of Amy Winhouse who recently passed away just before Fix You. The concert ended with Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall which finished to conquer the public.
I'm more used to see Coldplay in big venues (Bercy, Parc des Princes or Wembley stadium) so it was a great experience to see them in a small venue. Especially at La Cigale because there is no separation between the crowd and stage, thus the proximity was total !
The concert lasted a little bit over an hour which is pretty respectable for a private concert. It has been broadcasted live on Daily Motion so you should be able to (re)view if you want to. Otherwise I've put on my Youtube channel some videos I took ! Here is the full setlist:
