Sunday Song: Anna Sun by Walk The Moon

This week once more I'm sharing a song that I discover thanks to Xfm, it is Anna Sun by Walk The Moon. Yet this is not really a novelty since in 2011 the Esquire magazine put it among the "30 Summer Songs Every Man Should Listen To". She also figured in an episode of Vampire Diaries this year. A year elapsed, the band finally release their eponymous debut album, in June 19th. It is a catchy and lead song, at the first listen you can see why Esquire chose it among the songs of summer 2011.

Sunday song: Supremacy by Muse

Although The 2nd Law, Muse's new album will be released officially tomorrow (in France at least) it was possible to listen to this week, thanks to various radio stations that have offered it to their listeners. Have you listened to it? What did you think of it? Feel free to share your impressions in the comments section.
To celebrate this release, I chose to put Supremacy which opens the album under the spotlights. This is a song with heavy rhythms and where we can revive a Matthew Bellamy a bit garish, a nugget in all! For this I offer you  a live version in addition to the studio version!

A few days before The 2nd Law was broadcasted on the radio, I had the privilege to attend the recording of a French TV show called Taratata where I met the band and I had a sneak preview of Follow Me and Sign O 'The Times a cover of Prince. I was very excited to see that the Muse I cherished  (the one before The Resistance) was back. One thing is sure, concerts will be explosives once again! Besides the public has understood it, as Montpellier, Paris, Nantes and Strasbourg shows are sold out more than ever and that's not counting the concert at the Olympia in Paris! This week more than 50,000 people tried to get their precious sesame for this event. As only 2000 seats were available it was a real struggle and it made a lot of disappointed. After more than 10 hours of testing over the two days of the sale, I am one of the lucky ones. So we give ourselves an appointment on Tuesday for the show that promises to be exceptional and unreal and in the following days for a live report.

While waiting for Tuesday or for one of their upcoming concert, you can watch Muse tonight live from the iTunes Festival in London. For this, nothing easier than downloading the Festival app on iPhone or iPad festival or to directly connect to iTunes!

Sunday Song: Grandview by Le Blorr

Last April I attended Angels & Airwaves's concert at the Bataclan. I did not write a live report because I was academically very (too) busy at this time. That night I made a pleasant discovery with Le Blorr which was opening, a duet from Florida composed by Chris Hess (Cookie) and Adam Winn (Hot Damm). It's a mix of psychadelic rock and electronic dance, lots of joy. I fell in love with a song, Grandview, but it was not yet available for listening on the Internet. I had almost forgotten it until this week to be honest. I don't know why but I thought about it and decided to look up if it was finally available and... I found it ! Therefore I offer you the chance to continue your summer listening to it.

Sunday song: I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons

It's been a month since I Will Wait, the new single from Mumford & Sons came out and I do not know about you, but I can't get tired of it ! So naturally, I decided to chose this song as the Sunday Song.
After 3 years of absence, the British band will released its second album, Babel, on September 24th. Perhaps you already had the opportunity to hear some of their new songs as they have tested some in concert. Now let's just wait a couple of days to be able to listen to Babel entirely !

Sunday Song: Sleep Alone by Two Door Cinema Club

In 2010 we discovered Two Door Cinema Club with their catchy hits Something Good Can Work, I Can Talk and Undercover Martyn. They are back this year with a second album entitled Beacon which is due for release on September 4th. This week they offered a free download of their new single Sleep Alone for 24 hours. Although this song has appeared last summer it's always an appreciated initiative. It is a light song, fun to listen and that is very similar to what they did with Tourist History. The cape of a second album is always difficult, especially after having been successful but they seem on track to meet the challenge. RDV at the end of the summer to be able to listen to more of their new songs!

Sunday Song: Survival by Muse

Seeing Liam Gallagher singing Oasis' songs again last week almost made me forget Muse's come back. The English made the official song of the Olympic Games to be held from July 27 to August 12 in London. Survial will be played throughout the competition: Entrance of the athletes in the stadiums,  medal ceremonies and it will be the official theme of international TV broadcasts. What do you think of it ? Do you like it ?

The 2nd Law, the sixth album of the band will be released on September 17th and they will be touring Europe this fall. I hope you have your precious tickets because needless to say that all the shows of the tour are sold out since they went on sale!

Sunday song: Morning Glory by Beady Eye / Oasis

Rock en Seine 2009 marks a turning point for Oasis. You all know the story, I'm not going to say it again. Since then, Liam had drawn a line on the past by systematically refusing singing a few Oasis oldies on stage with Beady Eye, his new band. This, unlike his brother Noel who continues to play songs like Supersonic, Little By Little or Don't Look Back in Anger for the joy of all.
Thursday night Beady Eye was performing at Warrington in Britain and to everyone's surprise they performed a new song title AND two Oasis songs: Morning Glory and Rock'N'Roll Star. While the Oasis page seemed definitely turned in Liam Gallagher's life, he has shown us that it was not the case yet. Perhaps we can continue to expect a band reunion someday. Even if it is only to celebrate the 20 years of (What's The Story) Morning Glory in 2015 as were saying rumors last year.
Therefore this Sunday I propose you to discover what I would describe as an historical moment, Beady Eye performing Morning Glory:

And to the glory of Oasis, a live from the V Festival in 2005:

Talented, Gareth Michael Coombes played all the instruments during the recording of Here Come The Bombs. This week was released Happy To You, the 2nd album of the Swedish band Miike Snow (and yes it is a band contrary to what their name could let think). I thus decided to celebrate that by putting in the the spotlight Bavarian #1 (Say You Will) this Sunday! Sunday Song: Chapel Song by We Are Augustines

This sunday I chose to present Chapel Song by We Are Augustines, an indie band from Brooklyn. Their debut album, entitled Rise Ye Sunken Ships was released last year in the US (march 5th in UK). It's a song that I discovered a couple weeks ago already and once more it was thanks to Xfm. I hope you'll appreciate it as much as I do. Their album is worth the listening, you should try it if you like Chapel Song ! They were touring in Europe earlier this year and they're gonna be touring in the US this spring if you're interested. Hope they'll come to Paris too someday. This week, taken back of the blog's activity with Snow Patrol's gig in Paris. Stay tuned and have a nice week !

Sunday Song: Girls & Boys and Song 2 from Blur

Today, it's not just one song that I propose to you but two, the honor goes to Blur !! I found their Brits Awards performance astonishing this week ! They'll be in Hyde Park this summer to give a concert for the Olympics and there are rumours that they may do  some festivals too. I hope that it is going to tempt them to come back on the musical scene because I would really like to see them live someday!

Sunday Song: Went Away by The Maccabees

Please accept my apologises for the lack of updates, I have been quite busy but I did not forget the blog ! On this sunday I have the pleasure to present you Went Away, the new single from The Maccabees that we can currently hear on the radio in UK. Once again it's an English band that I discovered thanks to Xfm. They stoped by Paris a couple days ago to give a sold out show at La Maroquinerie. Unfortunately I wasn't in Paris this day, otherwise I would have gone ! If you were there, don't hesistate to give your impressions !

Sunday Song: Brother by Matt Corby

I took the time to travel the world through iTunes this week. I visited at least Canada, UK, Irland, USA, Korea, Japan and Australia to see what they are listening to these days. I have to say that they have some hits in common with France's top 10 songs (Foster The People, Coldplay, Adele, Goyte, Lana Del Rey...). I discovered a very cool singer from Australia, Matt Corby who became famous with Australia Idol in 2007. He doesn't have an album yet but he released 4 EPs that you can listen to. Here is Brother, his last single and also the song I fell in love with at the first listening. Hope you'll enjoy it !

English version & Sunday song

Hello to all of you, English readers !

As you can see I finally set up a proper English version of my French blog, aLive. It allows you to read my articles instead of just watching the pictures. I hope it's gonna be usefull for you. As I've said on the right sidebar, my english may not be perfect all the time, please be comprehensive. I'll do my best to avoid making mistakes.

I decided to propose you a different song every Sunday. It's gonna be a song that I listened all week, a song that marked me or even a song that is totally new.
Today, let's start with My Delirium by Ladyhawke. It's not a new song but I discovered it this week when I heard it on Xfm, an English radio. So here it is:
